PRELUDE

I treated all of this as a game. Holding the shutter, anticipating the path in my head while moving the camera. Tearing down the line between beauty and ugliness, documenting imperfection, and rebuilding an unfamiliar visual order out of what the world overlooked—where no trajectory could ever be replicated. Through this entire visual experiment, I failed to get my master's degree. But hey, it completely cured my OCD.

/ VOLCANO Staring at the cable pass-through on the desk: how to turn a table into a volcano? The answer: tilt forty-five degrees around the hole. The mundane collapses right here.

/ SKETCH Nothing annoys me more than a sky full of damn power lines. So I decided to rewrite the script. Shutter down, quick swing, and voilà—the ugliest cables in the neighborhood suddenly look like fancy line art.

/ CREASE How do you fix a moldy corner without cleaning it? Easy: just shove a camera right up to it. Under soft light and deep shadows, the grunge vanishes—leaving behind nothing but smooth, dune-like folds.

/ PURER SNOW Once your fingers go numb and your soaked coat is glued to your back, you really stop caring about cheesy movie stills. Held the shutter down and let the blizzard drift completely out of focus. Shook off the freezing cold and all the cheap drama—what’s left is a purer kind of snow that only people with severe myopia can truly appreciate.

/ CURED Misaligned joints, random paint splatters, and traffic lines abandoned mid-draw. Life is just one unfinished construction site after another.Since you can’t fix the mess, might as well box the flaws into sharp geometry. OCD cured—stare at a half-finished job long enough, and it starts looking intentional

/ ANOTHER KIND OF CURE Half-drawn wheels, resting flat on the ground. It can’t roll an inch, yet it sits there with zero regrets.

/ CURE Cut it in half, leaving just one calm, unapologetic eye to stare back. You don't have to keep up appearances when your face is reduced to geometry; imperfection vanishes the second you stop trying to show the whole thing.

/ OUT OF FOCUS A blurry glass bottle sitting on the table. The only color in the entire series, framed with absolute seriousness. It abruptly shatters the strict black-and-white order built with so much effort. Having the guts to dismantle your own perfect rules—that's where real healing begins

/ ANOTHER GLASS Might as well pour another glass.

/ A CUP OF BUILDING Pushing the lens in even closer. The reflection erects a tiny high-rise in the water, only to melt completely in the blur. With one casual tilt of my hand, I just drank down an entire skyscraper.

/ CONCRETE ABSTRACTION Forget about that glass of water for a second—look at this toilet casually dumped in the weeds. Washed clean by countless rainstorms, long stripped of any foul stench, it quietly nourishes the grass beneath it. The crudest piece of reality, dissolving into the purest abstraction in the dirt.

/ THE SHOCKED WALL Even the wall itself looked stunned after witnessing that concrete abstraction.

/ SHOCK AT A DISTANCE Up close, it’s nothing but a blur of grayish noise and smeared shadow. But stand far away and take a few steps back, and you can clearly see that startled face stretched wide by the dark. Getting too close will only drive you crazy; keep enough distance, and the shock finally makes sense.

/ THE PREVAILING WIND The wind in this house leans a bit to the left.

/ GENTLEMEN FIRST Among all the dull rules out there, this is probably the most polite arrangement of them all. Gentlemen first.

/ UNTITLED, FOR NOW Sometimes, the most comfortable form of order is simply admitting it is nothing in particular, at least for now.

/ LEANING LEFT, LEANING RIGHT Either tipping too far left, or leaning too far right. Another way to cure OCD is simply accepting that this world was never upright to begin with.

/ MEANINGFUL ARROWS Because it was painted and created output, it is meaningful. Just like my perspective—utterly meaningless to most people, yet it cured my OCD.
